R&B singer Leela James rocking the Art & Soul Festival in downtown Oakland.

I like Oakland Mayor Jean Quan. She had a booth at the festival and talked to everyone that stopped by. Later she wandered around the crowd by herself taking pictures. This is the third time I've gone to downtown Oakland and run into her chatting with people on the street. She's very open and friendly and seems to care about Oakland a great deal. Obviously it's going to be tough for a politician coming from an activist background to deal with the OPD, and she's made mistakes, but I think her heart is in the right place.
